The vertical response of the R700 is the best I can recall seeing- wow!
Which is not inherently good or bad, but with the majority of homes having fairly short distances between ceiling and floor i'm not sure this is a plus. Early reflections from the ceiling and floor will be more prominent and have the potential to negatively affect timber and perhaps even soundstage size.
On the flip side of the coin, a WWMTTMWW such as the
Dynaudio Evidence Master has a pretty narrow vertical throw but nice and even horizontal throw.
The limited vertical dispersion as one moves above the tweeter axis will reduce harmful early reflections from the ceiling in the critical 3-5khz range.
Likewise, look at the verticals for the Dynaudio Temptation:
As one moves above or below the tweeter axis SPL starts to decrease quite rapidly.
I do so love coaxials, though. I have heard the Blade and the R900 and I enjoyed both. I have also heard the Dyn Evidence Master and enjoyed it quite a bit.
