Hello All,
First I am thankful to you all who take the time to post reviews and analysis.

I would like to hear from you all experts a comparison or opinion considering the following three setups for my basement build.
Basement size: 16' x 30' x 8'high . (but 10' of backside will not be listening area)
AVR: Marantz 6008

Option 1: KEF Q900
Option 2: SVS Ultra towers
Option 3: Boston Acostics M350

Sub: SVS PB1000, or PB12 (likely PB12 :D )

I would be greatful you can rank the above three in your order of preference.
I have had a chance to listen to KEFQ700 , and they were ok, compared to far better KEF R500 but then the R500 are out of my budget.
Also I will get matching center channel with selected option.
I do not have a chance to listen to other 2 options, and do not want to trouble SVS and then return unless I am atleast 80% sure I will like them. The SVS have many reviews but I would like a "comparative" review comparing them to KEF Q900 or Boston M350. Also some reviews of of SVS mentioned they are very sensitive to placement, and I intend to place the speakers about 1-2' from front wall. 4' from left wall, and about 2-3' from right wall.

Thank you very much!

I am not crazy about the kef q series, and the M350s are ok, and the svs towers are imo nice but when I heard them with an external sub for some reason the bass didn't sound that good.. I am guessing your budget is around $2000 max since the svs towers are $2000 a pair, the m350s are $1300 a pair, and the kefs are $1000 a pair? For $2000 I like the ascend sierra towers and others here also mention the salks song towers for that price incase you are interested in other options. On the low end of your budget I think the sale price on the EMP towers {sale ends soon} and matching center would be a great buy... Also svs is having a sale on their pb12 which would be a decent step up from the pb10... The black firday internet sales are definitely worth looking into..

Yes the budget is $2k for left+right ch.
The kef q900 are $1800 pair .

I would go an listen to Salk Song towers because they have been praised a lot and I'm near Pontiac so if possible Id love to buy made in Michigan product.
Though I'm confused if there website shows price 2000/pair or single speaker.
The reason for my original short-list 3 was they have good looks too. (To me)
Agreed Kef is just a box but there are 3 x 8' cones.
Also agree prime factor should be sound.

Now I was dreaming of empteks for a month till I just increased my budget.
So do you think emp-tek vs $2000 pair (either song or q900) is not a "dramatic" improvement?

I did consider aperion a lot but somehow managed to keep them off list.

Thanks

The SongTowers are around $2,000 per pair--that's not a single price. Definitely pay Jim a visit--you'll enjoy it even if you don't order speakers from him.

Sorry for some reason I read q700, I never heard the 9s...

But This is a no brainer if you are close, get the songs, I think if you go there you will buy them...
