I cannot tell for sure. if anyone happens to know, what is the answer? I couldn't find the info on the interwebs. I emailed Kef support to ask them and days later, they replied back asking where am I located and what are my serial numbers without simply answering the question! That is extremely lame.

I'm guessing that they are not veneered as the walnut looks completely different from the R series. Hopefully Kef will give you an answer. Either way it still looks good.

Q series are vinyl covered. Only the Reference and R series Meta use real wood veneer finishes.

Seriously, I have no life.
At this point, I doubt many speakers in this price range will have real wood veneer because the cost of veneer for most wood species has increased and the techniques/machinery needed to make clean cuts on veneered substrate are more expensive than before. The veneer isn't applied after the cabinets have been assembled, the joints are miter cut and need to be extremely accurace in order to look good.

Real wood cabinets need to be considered 'furniture' and the veneer adds nothing to the sound or value, just the price, IMO.

It just helps to know, so I know how to take care of them. I suppose I could've looked to see if the grain is identical on each! That would've been a dead giveaway! I am not disappointed. That is the answer I was expecting.

If I were to guess, it might be bookmatched or they may have come up with a way to make it look like veneer from sequential sheets.

Just received a text from a friend (regional sales mgr)- yes, they are vinyl wrapped.

I worked on a condo more than 20 years ago and the owner told me to check out the kitchen cabinets- the grain was printed and it was amazingly hard to tell that it wasn't wood.
