What's the difference between IQ7 and IQ70? Are they the same speaker?

IQ70s are newer models. Freq response is '36Hz-40kHz' compared to IQ7s '40Hz-40kHz'.

They are really giving the 7's away. I've seen them for $190 each.
Do you know these? Can you tell me about the sound? Are the 70's way better?

I have never listened to IQ70s. But when I was looking for speakers, I auditioned IQ7s and PSB T45s and ended loving T45s more. Then again IQ7s were not available for $190 each either. At that price its a steal, I highly recommend you to go for an audition.

I Haven’t had a chance to compare the two, but here’s the primary difference:

Aluminium dome tweeter with "tangerine" waveguide. The unique "tangerine" waveguide delivers a smoother, clearer high frequency response with an even wider dispersion as well as providing an excellent protection from straying fingers.

Looks like the same as the KHT3005 system.

I see you have 7's. Can you describe the sound? How's detail and soundstage?

They are not the same speaker and the iQ70s are superior in their imaging and sound stage. They also have a tad more extension, but not enough to warrant purchasing them over the iQ7s.

I actually suggest you look at iQ5s instead as I think they have better sound overall. While the iQ7s have better extension. The choice is yours, but I think the price difference doesn't justify the improvement. Personally I would recommend the iQ5s first. But it depends on if you prefer extension or better midrange. IMO.

Listening is recommended if you can find them.

Any Kef speaker will give you an idea on the distinct flavor of KEF speakers.

I would suggest buying them and allowing your ears to adjust to the speakers sound. I think some ears have been trained too much on high bass and treble and need to learn the spectrum. :)
