"Kauffman" Anyone heard of this brand??

Hi all,

a mate of mine just bought (seriously it was not me) a set of Kauffman KA 600 HD loudspeakers off the back of a truck for $500AU . I cannot find reference to the brand anywhere. Have any of you heard of this name before? Sounds European or like a con-job to me. Rated power is 50 to 600W which I think is quite large.

Whenever anyone offers you speakers out of a van or the back of a truck or their trunk, it is a SCAM.

It doesn't matter how much power a speaker says it can handle, since power handling is almost meaningless. when it comes to speakers.

You have a better chance of touching dirk digglers butt than selling them here buddy........ Just kiddin ya man, I am sorry your "Buddy" got ripped off and lesson learned.If you don't know anything about speakers why on gods green earth would you buy a set from some guys in the back of a van?? Seriously sorry but I had no idea that the white van scam went on down under.....

The thing is, there isn't really anything you can do about it because it technically isn't illegal. Shady? Yes, illegal? No, or law enforcement would be able to put a stop to it. It is sort of like someone paying too much for somethig on Ebay or at a swap meet. If you didn't know and you paid too much, then you are as much to blame as someone lying about a crappy product. That is why the addage "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." applies in every one of these incidents.

We were stupid enough & got done by the white van men today and are now the proud owners of a $350 Kauffman Home Theatre Sound System.

We are trying to look on the bright side - does anyone know if they work?

Kauffman must be an Aussie white van scam, I've found nothing about it in my US google search, or maybe they are just that new.

had a mate of mine, smart fellow, get duped as well. He figgured out what happened after trying to find the speakers on the net, but the funny thing is he doesn't seem to mind too much.

He bloody loves the speakers, he couldn't be happier the damn fool. Maybe it's a just a defensive reaction...but ya know he asked me to have a listen, and I did, and I was afraid to have to lie, but yeah they actually sounded quite good!

So they'll likely blow in two months time, but it will be a lovely two months for him I suppose lol.

mate i did buy one for $800 , and can not find a thing on the net, have ran them through a mates amp to hear them , sound OK , not the best could be worse
but if i get some time out of them well thats is what you get for buying of the back of a truck on the side of the road

Kauffman is a very expensive brand of vodka, probably where they got the name from.
