Hi,

which pair of floor standers would you get?

Infinity Kappa 600

or

Energy RC-30 / Energy RC-50

I have not found any in depth reviews for the RC-30/RC-50.
Just wondering if they are comparable or one is way better than
the other.

I can't listen to either so the choice would be based on reviews and comments.

Thanks.

I have never heard the Energy speakers, but I own the Kappa 600's and can highly recommend them. They have everything I look for in a speaker - great sound, great build quality and they are gorgeous to look at. They have been discontinued for quite a while now and are kind of hard to find. If you can find them, you won't be disappointed.

my concern was the audioholic review mentioned the depth of the sound was not that great. do you find them bright at all? my room is not so large so I'm looking for the most sound stage and depth.

Do you use them for stereo music or home theater? I'm looking for strictly 2 channel music.

I wish there was a more in depth review of the RC-30's or 50's. The RC-10 got great reviews so it would seem the RC-30 and 50 would be better but who knows.

thanks

I have not noticed any depth of soundstage problems. The sound is very spacious and can really fill a room. As for brightness, I have learned that when it comes to describing the sound of speakers, one man's bright is another man's detailed. The Kappas have very detailed clear highs, but they are not harsh.

I use my Kappas for both music and home theater. I have a complete Kappa system. The 600's as the mains, a pair of 200's for the surrounds and the Kappa center. For the sub I added dual Infinity Intermezzo 1.2s subwoofers. This is a fantastic system. It is equally adept at music as it is for movies. I normally listen to music with 2 channels only and the 600's provide a wonderful soundstage. Another thing I like about the 600's is that unlike most modern speakers, they have incredible bass. The specs say they go down to 30hz, but it sounds like it goes even lower than that. You definitely won't need a sub for 2 channel music with these.

Here are some links to a couple more reviews of the Kappas. They might help alleviate some of you concerns.
