JVC RS1 alignment stability

We have a JVC RS1 projector and have continually had trouble with the alignment of the picture. It just won't stay put! We initially thought this was due to the combination of a less stable mount and our SVS sub :D, so eventually we reinforced the mount by bracing it across two joists. The mount is solid now, but the problem continued...

Eventually, we figured out that the problem is with the dials on the top of the projector that control the horizontal and vertical alignment. Apparently they have a tendency to "slip" out of position if jolted as tends to happen whenever a herd of elephants (i.e. children) runs through the room on the floor above.

I'm seeking thoughts on a couple of questions regarding this situation:

1) Is this a typical problem for the JVC RS1s?
2) Other than using tape to try to hold the dials in the correct positions (ugly!), does anyone have ideas for how to improve the alignment stability for our pj?

Thanks!

I have the same PJ, and I don't know whose is more "typical", but mine is very different from yours. The two knobs have a LOT of "slack", at the very least there is a ton of slack if you want to "reverse" direction before it "catches" again.

Is yours not like this? If not 100% sure, adjust to the perfect spot, and rotate it backwards gently until you're in the "slack zone"?

Well, I imagine you would immediately have known if yours was like mine, and therefore that you must be right that yours isn't after all. I imagine a remedy shouldn't be *too bad* figure out, as it is mechanical and not electronic, but who knows.

Please contact JVC and report back what they say?
