Hello guys.

I love the forum, just registered and ready to post.

Home i have a classic JVC A-K20 Stereo Integrated Amplifier. I know it's old, but i think old amplifiers work better than the new ones. My opinion.

I was wondering if anyone of you guys had/have experience with this model of amplifier.

It's original, and made from Japan. It says 220W. But i was wondering, how much power it will produce when i have all 4 speakers connected.

And yeah, on my speakers (80W Bass, 40W Middle, 20W Tweener) my boxes are damaged so there is air leak and they don't really give nice bass, as they used to. So I'm thinking of purchasing new ones. Could you guys give me a suggestion.

Thanks,
Coolzrock.

That 220 watt rating is probably the maximum the unit will draw from the wall outlet.

If you plan on connecting 2 pairs of speakers, you may want to see if the amp is rated for 4 ohm loads. Does it say anything about impedance at the speaker jacks?

RATED IMPEDANCE 1 OR 2:8 OHMS
My bass speaker is 4OHM.

I'd suggest getting new speakers. Do you have a budget? That integrated amplifier isn't meant to handle complex loads like the speaker configuration you have now. Can you tell us what it is exactly that you have now?

Danger Will Robinson... DANGER!!! :D

Your amp doesn't really want anything below an 8 ohm load. You might be okay using one set of your speakers with the 4 ohm rating if you don't push the amp too hard. Using both pairs of speakers is going to present the amp with a 2 ohm load and you risk blowing up the amp and the tweeters from amp clipping.

Thank you guys. Currently i have only one speaker wired to the amp, and i never pushed the volume to maximum. From 1-10 - volume scale i go maximum 4 or 5 depending on the song. After that the speaker cone is starting to smell, and i have to lower up the volume.

Thanks again.
Any suggestion for speakers, with good bass and not to expensive.
Some old Technics would be fine (Big Technics Fan here)

Bass: Sinevox SX 201F80 80W 4OHM
Middle : Ei 0501/MFP 40W Unknown Impedance
Tweener : 20W Unknown Impedance

They have integrated amplifier, to give bass to the bass speaker, middle frequencies to the middle speaker and treble to the tweener.

I thought tweener was a spelling error, ha. It's a "tweeter". I suppose it's possible that English isn't your first language either since I've not heard of either of those brands. Are those just loose drivers you put in a box, or is that an actual set of speakers?

Might I ask where you are from (I'm guessing Turkey). Do you know what Hi-Fi brands are available in your area?

No actually, i am from Macedonia.
And i don't know the specific brands, because most of the companies that sell hi-fi don't have websites.

I recommend looking for new speakers, not drivers. Pretty much any speaker you look at, other than junk, should be a step up from what you have. Perhaps you can see what brands are available at local hi-fi shops and other stores that sell audio related products.

Also you might want to invest in PAIR of speakers....
I'm sorry, but any self-respecting old-school audioholic with collection of vinyl records way more than amount of blue-rays titles ever made -all have Stereo setups :D
Used speakers might also be good choice for you
