seems I'm now the de facto AV guy in the family (sound familiar?). over christmas, bro in law approached me about a decent HTIB to go with his new sammy 46" lcd...was kinda at a loss because he said he didn't want to spend more than 500 bucks (again, sound familiar?)...we go out to his truck to listen to his car system...very impressive MB Quart setup with tons of tight bass and killer mids...
I flat out told him that he would be dissappointed with a 500 dollar system..he scoffed so i wished him good luck hunting best buy for whatever was on sale...
I guess he came to his senses and started to do a little research on AVS...he asked what I would get for around 700 dollars...i told him to buy a decent receiver and two good bookshelves like I did, then save up piece by piece...no dice, so barring that, i rec'd:
onkyo 505- amazon
hsu ventriloquist sats and center channel - hsu ID
bic H100 sub- ebay
all cables from monoprice (gosh that really freaks people out when they discover HDMI cables don't have to be 75 bucks)
omnimount 10's for the surrounds- parts express
speaker wire from home depot
the grand total was over 700 but not a deal breaker...his room is 20 X 15-ish with tray ceilings...so, will I be his hero or what?
