I LOVE THIS RECEIVER!!!! My Def Techs did sound good with the Yamaha i had, but the sound of the 1015 takes them to a whole another level!! I also like the remote because the remote can learn my other remotes and i love the white FL display it has. I know that THX is not important to many of you on this board, but I wanted to have a THX certified receiver since I saw a Pioneer receiver that had it back in the early 1990's! :D :D :D

Glad you're happy with it! I find it to be an excellent value, especially at the price I paid for it. I couldn't find anything near the price that could compete with features, inputs, etc.

Congrats. I agree, I think Pioneer blows Yamaha out of the water. (As do Denon and Marantz). Enjoy

I wouldnt mind seeing some pro reviews of the new pioneer line. I've heard alot about them and they don't get too much support on this site. I'm going to be buying a new reciever here in a few months and I'd like to be informed of all the choices.

Personally I disagree with that statement. I find Denon to be a 3 dressed as a 9 playing in the same league as Yamaha, not better, just different. Oh but costlier for soem unknown reason. In terms of quality assurance and warranty, I hedge the bet on Yamaha over Denon, Marantz and Pioneer anyday

Most of Pioneer's recent receivers have been reviewed. You can search for specific model reviews on ecoustics.com

Then we'll have to agree to disagree. Yamahas do fine with home theater work, but I think their musical performance is lousy. Maybe not Sony lousy, but close. Denon is not my personal fav, they are a bit too foward and agressive for my personal taste, but from a build quality stand point, Denon is stellar. The 5910 DVD player compares in terms of build quality with $10K transports. I've never actually owned a Yamaha receiver, so I cant comment on personal experience with build or warranty. I can say though that no Pioneer product I've ever had has ever had a problem, so I never had to deal with any warranty issues with them. That includes 3 laser disc players, two DVD players, and three receivers, ranging from $300 to $1500. All were perfect.

In my humble opinion, the Elite 59TXi is the best sounding receiver on the market, short of the Lexicon RV-8.

You make some huge generalizations about receiver brands that you haven't owned. Most descent mid-fi receivers out there (Yamaha 2500 vs. Denon 3805 for example) are very transparent and the decision should come down to the power, features, and price constraints of the application. Personally, I value reviews containing scientific measurements (like audioholics) more than unsubstantiated generalizations.

I would definitely not call most receivers transparent, however I agree on the generalizations part. The AMP sections are relatively transparent, but in particular if you are using the receiver's processing, the sound is influenced. It also depends on what price bracket we're talking about, because I find the lower Yamahas to be not so good, but when you move up the chain they get better fairly quick.
