Just ordered Anthem MCA 50

I'd have to say that you're buying the Anthem at a decent price in Canada. I travelled to the States and had a dealer offer me the MCA50 for $1850 US, so that's not a terrible difference for being Canadian.

Now, if the question is whether to go with the Anthem or Rotel, Emotiva, Outlaw, etc., only you can decide. Ultimately, I chose the small Rotel 1075 over the equivalent Anthem PVA5 or the bigger amps.

I thought Audioholics measured the power output @ 20Hz-20kHz & @ 0.1% THD, instead of the usual 1% THD.
-THD this low whether 1%; .1% or .01% is as far as I know inaudible
-i don't think AH believes and tests for ALL channels driven

while the above does not apply to real life, it is in the interest of comparing fairly apples and apples that the conditions be exactly the same when comparing manufacturer specs and review results.

So in other words, you don't think Emotiva and some other companies spec their amps from 20Hz-20kHz or with all channels driven or both?

The MPS amps have 7 mono-blocks with 7 independent power supplies/toroidal transformers, so it is all channels driven. So you don't think that is 20Hz-20kHz spec, but only 1kHz?

From reading Audioholic's & from another independent source, I thought the power rating of the MPS amps was from 20Hz-20kHz with all channels driven:

DaveMCC,

You went with the Rotel 1075 over the PVA5, was that due to the power rating, or were there other factors? I'm looking at the same two amps, but am now considering the new Emotiva.

Hey there ManishKasera.....

You said that you were going to purchase your Paradigm speakers... which speakers did you end up with... ?

Did you settle on the amp...?

Yes, i bought my seup:
F/L and F/R - Paradigm Studio 40 v4
Center - Paradigm CC590
R/L and R/R- Paradigm ADP 590

I'm still confused about amplifiers so did not drop the ball yet and it is expensive. Following are the options I'm considering for amplifiers:
Anthem Statement A5 or A2
Parasound Halo A51 or A21

Any of those are great choices, you can find some great deals on Audiogon.

Both of those lines are extremely well respected......

There are lots of products out there that are equally of audiophile quality.

Emotiva, Rotel... dozens of products, a good quality amp is transparent and will provide plenty of power. You don't have to spend tons for a good quality amp.

I am running Rotel 1095 with my Studio's and they sound fantastic, got it used for $1200.00 Great amp...

Paradigm Sig S4's C3 ADP-590 will be getting that IceAmp I was suggesting to you... D-Sonic 2000-5

I also know someone with this same setup, and stands behind those amps.
Tons of products out there, don't get hung up on top tier name brands, not that they are not great, just expensive... :)

HERE is the thread back when I made my purchase. Now that I've seen and heard the Emotiva products and know more happy Emotiva owners here, I'm certain my next amp will be an Emotiva.

I'm looking towards Audiogon too. Once I get the good deal on the Amplifier i want i will secure it.
Problem is shipping I live in Canada and most of sellers are from USA so I do not know what are the charges I will have to pay in order for me to get the item shipped here like duty, exchange etc.

Bought Halo A21

Finally.............what a relief !!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I purchased the Parasound Halo A21 from Canucks Audio. I got a good deal (at least I think). It is 1 year and 2 month old and looks like new absolute beautiful unit.
So far I did not connect it, may be next weekend, will post how better my Studio 40 will sound with these.

Tell you the truth I can not really make out that big of a difference comparing to my YAMAHA RX V2500. I would say sound is more defined and control.
But I do not think it is amplifier most probably it is my leaving room which is narrow and long not really a ideal layout for home heater, hey you know what it is a crave that never gets satisfied.
Hopefully I am done for some time and will sit back and enjoy my setup.
Any idea whih pre-amp will be nice with this, i want with hdmi and balance connection and not expensive but VERY GOOD QUALITY :)

Yep, my little RX 659 powers my 40's about as good as my Emo amp until I get to crazy volumes. I dont care, I am an Audioholic so I have to have a big, heavy amp!

Are you looking for a multichannel pre-amp? If so these are two that are out right now with the xlr outs, 2 HDMI outputs, will decode all the new lossless formats and they have REON HQV scalers.

Integra 9.8 MSRP-1699
Onkyo Pro SC-SC885P MSRP-1899 but street price is between 1299-1600

The new Emotiva line will not be out until at least June but will be very competative.

I own the 885 and have been very happy. It can be purchased over the internet where the Integra is dealer only.

Are you guys talking about a Pre-Pro or a stereo preamp?

And are you talking about using a Preamp in addition to a receiver?

Or are you talking about using two different systems-- one with a receiver, and one with a stereo preamp?

I am planning to retire my YAMAHA receiver for a multichannel pre-amp that can handle HDMI and all available lossless HD audio formats.
