Mmmm, Martin Logan Dynamo I guess? It really depends on what kind of discount you get whether it would outperform an Internet Direct offering for the money. What is your budget for mains + sub? It could be that even with your discount, you aren't getting a bargain.

My budget is 1250 for the speakers. On average the bby discount is 50% off MSRP. Also I want to add my wife does not like big boom bass

Definitive is not really bad - and they are way better than Bose

In the past I preferred Definitive over B&W around the same price range.

As far as Best Buy subs - I would look at Martin Logan

Well then I would certainly not buy any powered speakers and wouldn't spend much on the receiver either until you at least know if you will be running on 50hz or 60hz and what your voltage will be. I would try to find as close as you can afford to full range speakers though. As long as they are not powered you can move them where ever you go.

Voutage converters take me down to 120v. I verified with the manufacturers that 50hz will have no effect on the equipment. If I go some where with 60hz < power I am hosed but I can't control that for a long time


But I do need to mindful of power, if it can't run on 50hz i can't buy it.

For a system with powerful bass, check out an Hsu 2.1 Ultra 15 package. Good speakers and great subwoofer there, with 50 Hz power option, and no need for a converter.
I would also be looking at a Ascend CBM170/ Rythmik F12 setup, however I can't tell if the power is 50 Hz compatible on the sub, you will have to contact Rythmik and ask about that.

Aside from Deftech and B&W, I don't know what brands that BestBuy carries. The Hsu subwoofer is easily a better bang for the buck than anything bestbuy has, even when marked down 50%.

Yes, it will work well with any speaker.

I might do that. The next year I'll be in an apartment and I don't think a 15" subwoofer will help my situation there. Maybe when I move in can upgrade the deftech or other bby 2.0 system

If the apartment building has heavy-duty firewalls between apartments, then you can go a bit nuts and get a powerful system. However if the building has thin walls, even a 10" sub will be easily heard by the neighbors. If the building you will be staying in is flimsy construction, don't even bother with a subwoofer at all.

If you are going to place it in a large room and going to be watching a lot of movies, I would be going with the VTF15h mk2 or VTF3 mk5. If you are only doing music, I would go with the ULS-15 mk2. If you are doing movies in a medium sized room, the VTF2 mk4. For small rooms, the VTF1 mk2 or STF2. If you like it loud in a small room, go with the ULS-15 mk2.

Well I got destroyed lol.

I'm sorry if I gave the perception that I want a pat on the back. I honestly don't know what I am doing. I made an impulse buy on a couple of speakers I really like, and I want to make sure they are actually a good purchase before I buy them. I was not aware of speaker placement or the fact that subs enclosed with mains is a sub-par solution.

I could use any advice you guys might have, it is not easy for me to listen to specific speakers where I live but if I know what I'm looking to listen to it can find it.

That being said do you have any suggestions of what I should try to listen or look into before it's too late for me to back out of my purchase.

In my ever humble opinion, for a simple satalite system and a sub check out paradigms lifestyle speakers. I have the millenia ones and the millenia sub. For my rears and low end. They have amazing sound for a price that won't break you.

Sorry again but the sub is very expensive but there are alternatives
