Just 1000$

Dear all,
I am looking for new speakers. I have Mordaunt Short speakers and I am very happy. I will buy a new system for a present and I would not like to give the same ones. Could you help to choose new speakers? I need 1 center, 2 floor standing and 2 rears. And of course, no over 1000$.

If you want to stay under $1,000 take a look at the BIC Acoustech line.

You should even have enough money left over to look at a powered sub. I wouldn't buy the BIC sub, though.

Just to be a little different I chose the following:

Fronts-Athena WS-100 Slim towers
Center-Athena WS-60
Rears-Athena WS-15

From Best Buy that comes out to $720 and plenty left over to get a little HSU or X-sub to go with it!!

Onix X-Series

Not sure why you are opposed to giving the MS speakers as a gift. They are included in the AH recommended systems and you seam to be happy with your setup.

The Onix X-series from av123.com might be a good alternative. The Onix X-sls floorstanders are on preorder but I think they ship in January.

It is a gift for my brother and I would not like to give him the same as I gave to my father. I have choosen the new Marantz AV Receiver 5001 and now I have to choose the speakers. I have seen that I could afford the B&W 600 which costs 1100€ in Europe. I know this is 1400$ dollars but prices in europe are much more expensive than in USA. Do you really think I should make an effort for those speakers? The speakers that I like are Kef Series Q but they are 1500€ .

As a current Infinity Primus owner I can NOT reccomend them enough. You can get the 360 Towers, C25 center, and say the 150's for rears all for $650 delivered from Vann's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your local Circuit City may still have some Primus speakers in stock and as such you can save even more money. I love the Primus speakers. Good luck in your decision.

The speakers that I like are Kef Series Q but they are 1500€ .

I'm a big fan of the Q series, but find the prices a bit steep. BTW are you talking about the floorstanders, or the cheeper bookshelf iQ1, or iQ3 models?

Ill second the Primus as well, I had a primus center before buying my rockets and it was pretty darn good...and for the money...heck yeah.

What I can get for that price is:

- 2 iQ3
- 2 iQ7
- 1 iQ6C

Price looks good but out of my range. I cannot spend more than 1000€.

Thanks for your recommendations about Infinity. I listened some Infinity speakers 2 years ago and I didn't like them. I start to think B&W starts to have more possibilities (or maybe MS with different configuration ).
