I was one week from turning 16 when "16 Candles" came out and at the time that movie had a huge impact on me, it was one of the funniest films I had seen at that time. "Long Duck Dong" had me rolling. His movies helped shaped the 80's and the mood of many youngsters. My mother thinks "Ferris Buellers Day Off" is one of the funniest movies she has ever seen and still places it in her top 10.

I have fond memories of seeing "Vacation" when I was 14 or 15 with my father and him laughing harder than I had ever seen in a theater. Guess he could relate to travelling with me and my twin sister arguing all the time. I even liked his lesser known movies like "Some Kind of Wonderful" with Eric Stoltz.

I am sorry he never saw continued success like he did in the 80's, but his movies were one of the things that helped shape my youth and I still qoute his movies even today.
