In addition, JL appears to under-rate actual specifications of performance considerably. Take the 10w7 10". They rate it around 22mm x-max. In reality, linear x-max is over 26mm one way(with mechanical limits being well past 30mm one way), as measured by DUMAX analysis by Adire Audio some time back. At 22mm, the motor BL response is absolutely flat from 0 mm to 22mm one way (!), as well as the suspension being nearly absolutely linear at this point as well. This is why W7 drivers model almost exactly as they actually perform/measure in the real world, unlike most drivers, which fall very short of acting like they do in a modelling program with moderate to high power conditions applied.

The 12w6V2 has also been analyzed for it's true motor curve, and while JL rates it at 16.5mm one way, in reality, this driver has 19mm one way linear x-max, according to conventional accepted standards.

I would expect the 12w7 to have [actual] around 35mm one way linear x-max, or the 13w7 to have nearly 40mm one way linear x-max, in tradition with JL's apparent under-rating ratios. The published numbers appear to be for limits of absolute linearity, which is simply not usually done (it's usually the other way around, with exaggerated/optimistic specifications).

I can speak 1st hand as to their performance, even in a sealed design. They are an impressive sub. I have a DIY Fathom F112. Check my build thread 2 for more info in my signature.
Thats quite impressive!!

I wonder if JL is delving into the 15" and 18" subs!
