JBL surround speakers?

Does anyone know why JBL doesn't seem to sell individual surround/satellite speakers? It seems as though every other company does. Am I missing something, do they? I purchased "JBL CS6100BG" 6 piece set a few years back. I have since upgraded to a 7.1 receiver and would like to add two more satellite speakers to do so. I am unable to find a set of two JBL satellites. Anyone have any advice?

Because often sets like that don't get that kind of retail support for individual components, and it isn't just JBL either. For surrounds, particularly rear surrounds, you can use quite a few other speakers well enough. How much do you want to spend?

I might by a pair of their smaller bookshelf’s and use them as L/R mains, and move the old ones to the rear. Find some with similar tweeter material and you should be ok. As HD was getting at, there really isn’t such thing as a “surround”speaker. The main thing is they’re at least similar.

No that wasnt what I was getting at and OP called them satellites anyhoo :) Besides there are speakers that are intended as surrounds....

Sure they do! The bundle you picked up is not in the line which sells individually or in pairs.

If you don't mind used/eBay, here is the matched set. You will have a few spares or can try Atmos, etc.

Thanks for the info guys. @walro, would you be able to point me in the direction of an individual pair of surround JBL's, not necisarily in the line of speakers that I chose? I've always stayed away from used speakers, they scare me.

I cannot find anything new from JBL, suitable for surrounds. One option could be to move your current L and R to surrounds and get something better for L, C and R.

What's your budget?

Here is a pair that can be used for rear speaker,

Maybe look at JBL 230 for a pair of bookshelf speakers for L/R duties....

Ok fair enough. That’s why I shouldn’t post before at least one cup of coffee
In any case, IMO “Surround “ speakers usually refer to bi/dipole speakers, and in my world don’t even exist. Like a Prius, or Pontiac Aztec. If you can get it in to the right spot, it will qualify as a surround speaker.
