I just had this sub for over a year. I should of bought a extended warranty but i nevered had any issues with JBL in my years of owning products. It now doesn't power up?. I never over power the sound since i've owned it. Any ideas what is going went bad? Is there a fuse inside the cabinet?.

If there is no fuse externally, it is possible there is one inside. More likely than not, the amp went bad though, and highly likely it is capacitors not a fuse. IMO, should be under warranty, so I'd contact JBL. Budget sub amp failures are quite common. There's a big difference between passive speakers - which you should not need a warranty for, and a powered sub is that amp and the amp is by far the most likely thing to go.

Heat is a likely factor, but undersized capacitors or just cheap ones can be as well. In order for a company to make a profit off a budget sub, those amps are going to have to be manufactured pretty cheaply. A fan would potentially introduce noise to the amp.

It makes you wonder about the Dayton budget subs, although I've never heard of any issues yet. Hmmm

The Daytons did have some amp issues at one point too, but I believe they addressed it. Obviously others have had issues too, like Epik.

Are Epik budget subs I thought they were expensive? Hey JBL1964 maybe you should consider a SVS PB1000 or the Dayton 1200 if on a budget.

That's what I am saying, sub price doesn't matter to amp issues.

I'm currently sharing my newly Klipsch PS115 sub that is connected to my Yamaha home theater receiver. I use the LFE from the sub to the Yamaha LFE and the other input of the sub to my Onkyo net receiver. The bass is 2 times harder then the JBL PSW150 i had once connected to my Onkyo receiver. I'm a JBL guy when it comes to music and Polk audio when it comes to movies. I primarily use the Onkyo net for my 2 channel listening. I have all the older format stereo components connected to it. Sony mini disc,Sony DAT,Philips CDR,Pioneer laser/dvd combo player.Sony USB turnable and a Pioneer 8 track recorder and a Denon HX PRO 3 head cassette deck.

JBL I looked up your sub and it seems to be a Polk PSW150 sub? I just did a search and that's what I got.

Opps my mistake the model# JBL studio 150P 300 watt. I did once have the Polk PSW-110 to complete the Polk setup but i didn't like the bass response i was getting. The response was "hallow" and shady. I should of tested that sub in the listening room this Frys Electronic store has in their store. I returned it and listen to several subs they had in their 3 rooms. I made the decision and got the Klipsch 115 I did like the Martin Logan subs but $3,000 was a little out of my pocket. The JBL studio 150P has a nice deep natural sound due to its nice enclosure so i'm gonna have it repaired even if it takes replacing the internal amplifier with a new one.

I'm big on JBL too, since I first heard a pair of L100's powered by a Marantz 2270 back in 1974. I also like Sony as it appears you do. My JBL B380 sub is powered by a Sony TA-N80ES operating in mono for 560 watts, which the B380 seems to need.
