Not trying to be a troll but I really need advice. My equipment is not at all of audiophile quality, but I need advice on floor standing loudspeakers. I have a budget of about 500.00 an want a nicer set of speakers. I have in the past had a set of DCM 10's and a set of KLH model 23's I think. Did not really like either, nor do really like the Bose that I am listening to now. I will be buying used as you could probably guess with 500.00. Ebay more than likely so listening to them will not be an option. Will not be using these with any kind of home theater, just music. Which would be a better buy or what are some other choices I should consider in this range. I'm really interested in vintage first. Any help would be appreciated.

L100's or Hersey

I've had both for music listening only. Listened to them on mid-range receivers, and high end pre/pro systems. I actually went through this progression over the last 20-30 years: Advents, AR-10pi, L100's, Hersey's, 4311's.

I stuck with the 4311's (pretty close to the L100s). Hersey's were way too bright sounding regardless what I ran through them. The AR's were the clearest and most transparent, and had no personality. Great reproduction, but they were power-eaters. I don't know what kind of music you mostly enjoy, so that may be a factor not considered here.

I mostly listen to old school R&B. A little jazz now and then. Thanks for the help. Will also consider AR's.
