OK, I'm staring right at the Marantz box...I guess the worse thing that could happen is I try it out, if I don't like it, box it back up and put up for sale and get one of the other choices. I'll let you guys know what it sounds like (from my untrained ear) and throw in some pics to boot! Thanks for all the useful information/input/opinions!
Nice choice I think you will be quite happy with this unit , money well spent, enjoy, sawz..

KASR, congrats. I guess it's too late, but just in case, someone here is selling the Yammy 661. It doesn't have internal decoders for the new codecs, but you can just have the player do that, and send as mch pcm.

It has a more powerful amp section than the 663, which itself has a more powerful amp section than the 665.

Not a bad deal at $200. It doesn't clip BTB/WTW like the 663 either.

Other Cons:
No analog to HDMI video conversion.
2 HDMI inputs.

Well, I've got most everything connected - ran through a quick configure on the OSD - haven't really had a chance to let it sing, but will tomorrow. I need to pick up a few cables and then I'll really have a verdict.....after I install the 2 extra speakers for surround right and left and push the existing to the back surround channels! Gonna be tons of fun in the attic! :D

KASR, can you do us all a huge favor? Can you take pictures of her backside and get some naked pictures for us as well. I figure if she's going to put out on the first date she might be open to divulge the rest of us with some good ole' fashion good stuff as well. So, does she have what it takes?, she better not puss out.;):D

I'm mostly curious about how they did the inner workings for the slim line receiver. I want to know if they used discrete output devices or ICs, if they used a toroidal transformer or iron core, and what the cap sizes are. And you don't really have to take a picture of the back (more interested in the top with the hood removed), I would just like to know what the power consumption is (since Marantz hides it on their stock photos for some reason).

I won't lie, I'm alittle hesitant about cracking open the case and voiding the warranty - I'll read over the warranty info and see what it say as well as check to see what it'll take to open it and post back up. :D

I'm buying some news cables today...all the same brand, so they'll all match.

Got all the cabling done...didn't have the time to setup the additional speakers - hoping I can do that tomorrow. Still undecided on the sound...I think I've got everything configured correctly...
