I have found taking the phase knob away from "0", brings effects I don't like....
I have the phase knob at about 6.5 (assuming the dial goes from 0 to 10). I found that 0 had very little upper bass, say in the 50-70 hz range and 10 had too much upper bass. So far I think I like it there - again so far...

How aboot some pics?
I took a few of my old sub sitting beside the new sub - the SVS is SO MUCH LARGER than the old sub. I will try and post them later today as there are funny (in a sub funny way).

downward firing subwoofer

Folks,
I need to buy a subwoofer fro the audio system in my new house. I have 4 8" klipsch c2800 ceiling-mounted speakers in the living room. While these handle mid/tweeter just fine, there is a decided lack of bass. I think a single 10 or 12" sub would be acoustically OK and will pass with my wife. The other issue is that we have 2 cats and I can just imagine the grille of a front-firing sub would be ruined in short order (SVS subs just look like scratching posts!). Any recommendations on a downward firing subwoofer (either passive or powered)

Thx, O'boy

I have 2 cats and getting a sub was a serious issue with my wife should there be any ill effects to them.

As you can see, I purchased a down firing sub. On only one occasion did I see one of them walk on top of the sub to investigate it's vibration. The cats and the sub get along fine. And they stay near me even for movies with a lot of LFE.

Yeah, it looks like either a HSU VTF-2 or a SVS PB12-ISD are my two choices. Can I ask for opinions on these two subs?

Of course, I can only discuss the SVS. But in all honesty, it is the most important element in my sound system and I consider it a real treasure.

I enjoy it for DVD Converts, CD playing and movies. Just a great addition. And it looks so good that my wife never said a wrong word about it.
