I'm considering attending the ISF training program in Los Angeles this year. Is this a good thing for someone interested in HDTV or should you be someone well acquainted with calibration?

I have used DVE and Avia a few times to tune up my friends' TV's. I have seen the ISF calibration done on my own TV but don't have much experience otherwise. I'm in a position to retire from my career in a few years and want be involved with something I enjoy for the years after that. Will I in fact be able to calibrate a TV after the course or will I be in over my head? How much technical knowledge should someone have before going to the ISF course? The bottom line is "should I spend $1k on training?"

Wisdom from those who have attended ISF will be appreciated greatly. Thank you.
