Ok, now I have the manual in front of me, what doesn't add up?

(kind of light for a 550 watt amplifier at only 26 pounds. You can get an Emotiva MPS-1, heck two for less than one of these things, this thing is becoming completely unappealing)

This was on the cover of Stereophile not long ago. The stated purpose was, as haoleb pointed out, for those who love the "silky midrange" of their beloved tube amp................but want the bass slam that comes from solid state amps.................the reviewer was very impressed and said the amp did just what it was purported to do.........

No mention of continuous power capability. No mention of those RMS or peak voltage capability with loads, 8 Ohms? 4 Ohms? What?
Sure, it gives about 60V rms, then talks of 250A p-p which would be 125A /1.414 for RMS value. Multiply that out: P=IxE what, 5000watts? Can it really deliver that current into 8 Ohms? Instantly? Dynamically? What?
Do the math P also = I^2xR. Oh really? 80A^2x 8 Ohms?
Or, can it deliver that 80A into 1 Ohms? Or even that 125A peak? More math: 125^2 x 1 LOL
This may be an expensive dynamic capable amp. $3000?

More reason the tackle it head in:D This is not the hard math we are talking about. That gets over my head too at times or way over.:D Simple formulas, basic algebra, no trig. :D

By the way, thanks to you I searched and found the RB985 manual. This is the only amp so far that actually specify what 40 amp peaks mean. It is for 0.1 ohm load, 10 microseconds, 1 pulse. So power=40X40X0.1=160W assuming that 0.1 ohm is purely resistive (if not, it will be even less), and this is Rotel.. So much for the high current misconception!
Perhaps this is how they get that spec??? Into a .1 ohm load? Or even less?

Try some real monoblocks.

For $350.00, you can get [real, measured and verified] 1300 watts mono @ 8 ohms(0.025% THD at full power), or 1960 watts mono @ 4 ohms(0.0461% THD at full power). Now, that what's I call supercharged. :)

You were testing us all, see what you could learn. What a sneaky, smart guy. :D
And, it looked different.

Anthem has the solution to your problem:

Statement P5 Amplifier. Good enough to make a speaker out of a fork. ;)

A turbo charger that pricey should come with a blow-off valve :D
