Since Denon has announced their flagship follow-on, what is Yamaha's response?

I am a proud owner of the Z9 but would welcome HDMI 1.3 switching, new audio codec decoding, etc.
I would love for Yamaha show some support for it's flagship, I mean in the beginning when it was first released they marketed it as future-proof and firmware upgradeable. But years have passed and nothing , nada, zip... It's too bad aswell because it is a fine unit that will be a dinosaur as soon as the new audio formats and HDMI 1.3 is released.

They should do something like AV123 did for the emotiva and add an HDMI 1.3 switcher to the unit through the RS-232 port. That way atleast we could use the decoders built into the players themselves and still be able to keep it digital. Ahhh it's nice to dream!

Maybe someone could pass this info on to Yamaha.

Yamaha RX-V4600 Going the same way

I was in a local Tweeter store yesterday and they are closing out the RX-V4600's as well. No word on a repacement.

My guess is Gene will get the word here on a new Z9 before many of us hear about it. Maybe he will be so kind and post it here when a new Z9 is announced. I can only imagine what Yamaha can improve on from the Z9. It does need a tech update with hdmi 1.3, and support of the new HD-DVD surround formats from DTS and Dolby. What else?

The real question will be HOW MUCH? I hate to see a Yamaha flagship keep climbing in price.

It seems flagships receiver prices always go up from previous years and the rest of the receiver line goes down in price or adds more features for the same price or better then the previous model.
