Is VGA to Component a decent option?

Hello,
I just had my ScreenPlay 4805 go out and have decided to just replace it as it is very noisy and seems to go through bulbs quickly. It has component direct input so no converters were needed to hookit up for my TimeWarner Cable.

I bought a Epson 77c which had good reviews, but one draw back is it does require a VGA to Component cable. I thought this would be a simple cable to find at Frys... But no luck. So while I look for this cable my question is.

Should I expect a similar picture quality with the VGA to Component cable as I had with direct component?

I have the projector for my kids to watch TV, ocassional sports and video games. So the quailty does not have to be top of the line. But I also don't want to get something that is a poor quality.

thanks

I don't know if the quality is comparable, but I wanted to give some places to buy those cables just in case you were having trouble tracking them down.

You can get them at Radio Shack, monoprice.com (here's a selection), and Amazon.com (search for "vga component"), among other places. Just wanted to point those out, as I've looked in the past.

Thanks for the quick response... Those places to have them... but all have to be shipped. I thought living in the Dallas area this would be an easy item to pick up.

So, in having to do this... It just got me to thinking if this is the right path... Kids go through my projector bulbs like pez so I was thinking this might be a cheaper option on the projector...

Any advise on the picture quality is greatly appreciated and if you know where I can 'pickup' a VGA to Component cable in the Dallas/Plano area.

thanks

Ewww, sorry. I didn't see the "Web only" bubble on the Radio Shack site.

You might try calling the CompUSA in Plano. They carry those cables online, but for the life of me, I can't find the button to check if it's carried in the store.
