Maybe it's the ripcord?

Either way, yeah, note the model number is the same, so it's the same stuff BlueJeans carries, only much cheaper. Let me know how the shipping prices are and such, I plan on ordering from them...eventually.

It's the ripcord. It's a fibre which lets you remove the outer jacket easier (sort of like the pull strip on CD plastic)

Did you find out how much shipping costs (and what about carrier, hope they don't use UPS to Canada or somebody else is going to get ripped!)

I recently purchased 150' of "12 White" wire from Blue Jeans Cable. Their wire is the exact same Belden cable but with a white jacket and red/black wires and they have their name printed on it. There was no extra red wire or ripcord inside the jacket. Overall the wire is very high quality and was easy to work with. Personally the color was a deciding factor for me.

$15 for 200 feet of 12/2 wire. It's almost 50% of the cost of the product. A 250 ft spool of 12/2 at HD runs .20 cents a foot in comparison.

Warpdrive is right, we have to use UPS at work on occasion when dealing with U.S. companies and it's horrible! They are expensive and we've sometimes have had problems clearing Customs.

Just my opinion.

Good Luck

I guess that was kind of a newbie question...the ripcord..never seen that before... :)

They are shipping by regular mail to me in Canada. No UPS, no brokerage. Shipped same day, tomorrow at the latest. they quoted me $25 US for postage so I get 200 feet of high quality 12 AWG, , shipped to my door for just over $50 US. Awesome deal if you ask me. 1-800 # works in Canada too...I will let you know how long it takes.

these two products have different model #s. Any diff?

Cool. Good deal then. That is a much better deal than BJC for essentially the same product except for color and the extra ripcord. You'll be paying applicable GST/PST plus $5 when you receive your package in Canada. Let us know how it turns out. The difference from the BJC cable is that the BJC was custom made for BJC, so their name is printed on it, and the jacket color is different, and they left out the ripcord too.

The wire at Westlake is the same stuff Bluejeans WAS selling. They recently switched to the white jacket with their name on it. Both are of high quality. I'd prefer the white jacket without Bluejeans name written all over it. This product at Westlake seems like a great deal. I'd seen the same wire at another vendor for more than what Bluejeans is charging.

This is my perspective on this, being a person who doesn't mind working with cable but isn't into making them look "nice":

For cable runs out of sight or in-wall I would save some money and get the westlake stuff. For cables that are in sight the BJC white versions would be very nice and you have a guarantee from them. But if you like using techflex and adding connectors you could make the westlake stuff look pretty good also.

Personally, i don't see a difference with it being grey wire, or white. Westlake sent me an email today that it has been shipped already...They told me on the phone that if I called before noon they would have had it out the same day!! :)

received my cable in 2 days....they also added a couple calenders. With your USA space program as the topic. I love you guys down there, and i know you are a proud, patriotic bunch...but really....nice touch though...guess it's better than the "girls of Seattle" or something like that. Tom Lykas says the northwest has the fattest women!! and the most single mothers!!

anyways...cable looks like very good quality. I am moving next week so i am waiting to use it until then. 200 feet for less than $50 delivered. wow.

That is a good deal. I just bought 100 feet of 12/2 speaker wire at Home Depot for $20 plus tax. Man that stuff is thick. I'm having trouble burying it under the floorboard. I could not find 10/2 speaker wire locally, but didn't think I needed it even with my 30 foot runs to my dipole surround speakers. I think Gene talked about 10/2 in an earlier post-that if your runs are over 50 feet, then you need 10/2. I didn't notice a difference in sound quality, but did notice a slight difference in spl. I'm almost certain my 18/2 wire had a much higher resistance and wasn't allowing the signal optimal efficiency - especially in the lower notes. I'm not a fan of exotic cables, but do believe the heavier gauge, better insulated cable is worth the added expense.

Does anyone know if soldering the tips of this wire and using the screw posts at the AVR and speaker terminals are as good as using banana plugs for signal transfer? I could care less about ease of use. :)
