I'd say so, but I'd think you don't want to get them wet.

Safe? Probably as long as you're not running really high voltage through them.

Snake oil? Yup.

Perhaps that site of one of the stings I've always recommended. I thought that the Click and Clack radio show should be a sting for people that don't maintain their cars properly or drive with skill, and after calling in they should be arrested. (My favorite was a woman called in wanting to know how to get jelly, from a donut she was eating, out of her floor transmission mechanism. It was making it difficult to shift into Park.)

I've always thought the cryo'd power plugs on Audiogon were a sting for the gullible among us with too much money. The same with green CD pens.

Perhaps this site is a sting for organic-everything types who think it should also apply to insulators. ;) (Actually, I think cotton is a dielectric.)

I just love these sales pitches. I've also been known to watch the home shopping network for entertainment purposes.

Those look a lot like the wiring (that was) in my grandmother's attic!
I suspect the house has been rewired by now, but when I saw that wiring 30+ years ago, it was at least 30 years old (probably 50) so if it can work as AC wiring, it is probably safe for audio.
To elaborate, this wiring in the attic ran between ceramic insulator stand-offs. By the time I saw it (and probably why I have a pretty good remembered image), the fabric was looking pretty dry and seemed like it might break open/off if you abraded it! I kept a distance. The image makes me think fiberglass, but I'm not sure fiberglass was common that early, it was probably the fineness of silk threads that I saw.

I wonder how much money someone could make retrofitting amp wiring?
