is this a good package deal?

i've been looking for a new surround sound system. I currently have a Panasonic HITB system, and its time for a upgrade. I only want to spend around $2,000. I've read all the reviews and customer feed back and the EMT 55ti 5.1 system with the Yamaha RX-V667 seems like a good bang for the buck. Am i correct in thinking this? Would you do something different.

I would post a link to the product but it wont let me cause this is my first post.

I've read good things about EMP at their price point.

I like what I have heard about the EMP speakers, but honestly their sub looks pretty sad. I would go for the speakers but look for sub from Hsu, Outlaw Audio, Elemental Designs, Rythmik, SVS, or Epik.

I agree that EMP gets great reviews for their price point. But for $1690 which includes two 55ti tower speaker, two bookshelfs, one center, one 10" sub, and the Yamaha RX-v667, could someone piece together a better combination of components for around the same price point. Im pretty set on getting this package deal through audioholics, but im a newbi so i just want to make sure there isn't something out their that is widely considered a better deal than this for the same price point. thanks

Pretty much what shadyJ said, it's a great deal, but the sub is one place you can likely do better. If the sub is part of the deal (and the deal saves you money on the five speakers) than it should be fine but don't buy the EMP subs separately. The best subs on audioholics store are probably the Infinity and Atlantic Tech options but otherwise I would go to actual sub companies like SVS, HSU, and Funky Waves.

I second the good comments on the EMP speakers, I am very happy with mine. I would add that the sub performs much better than I was expecting, when looking at the specs it seems severely outclassed but for some reason it's got quite the punch to it, much stronger/smoother response than expected. I still echo what the other said, if I was looking to purchase outright at the current price point of the EMP sub by itself I would look elsewhere, but as part of the package it's a great deal and should hold you over well until you decide you want to upgrade.
