is there a + - side on the Monster XP speaker wire? im using this for home surround.
usually you have some color codes or something to tell the difference but being a noob i dont see any other than Monster XP written on one of the wires. i think i may be usuing 2 different rolls. im sure i had some here and ran out and went and grabbed a newer roll. but again both have that little wire in the center, ones clear and one is blue. i have had this hooked up for 7-8yrs why im asking now i dont know lol

i havent had any problems or anything but want to make sure.

so is there a pos/neg side? thanks

sorry i dont have enough posts to post links

As long as the colors match on the terminal ends (blue wire to red terminal on both ends, white wire to black terminal on both ends, etc.) it doesn't matter. The copper doesn't care what signal it carries.

I usually use the wire that has the logo and writing on it as negative, but it doesn't matter either way as long as you keep the polarity the same on both ends.

I typically use the side that has "monoprice" or "canare" written on it as the negative.. :p

Seriously, I have no life.
Not in monsters case....any writing or logo by them is a negative thing! :D
I see. So then a monster cable is for only the negative terminal and one needs a BJ cable for the positive terminal. Why didn't I think of this. ;):D:D

Maybe on to something with that statement.

I've always used the 'STRIPE' side as 'SIGNAL'. This is pretty consistent with a lot of product. Likewise, you will find that there is a raised rib on one of the pieces of cable when it is a dual cable. The ribbed edge is typically the negative. If you have a zip power cord at home, there is almost always a smooth edge wire and a ribbed edge wire and the ribbed edge is the neutral while the smooth edge is the hot. The hot is almost always the one with writing on it.

so thats another vote for using the logo side as the positive. :D
