It looks like it's too early to tell who the winner in the format war is. I guess I want Blu-ray to win out in the end. From everything I've read, theoretically it could provide the most data via the format.
But Sony has been behind the 8 ball in some pretty big areas lately. (portable media player, delayed PS3 offering, installing rootkits on customer computers) So who knows who'll win out. Beta was supposed to be a better format than VHS, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
Whoever wins, I know that it will only be a few titles that I'll be double or triple dipping in the winning HD format, not my whole library. I still have some pretty good DTS and Dolby Digital Laserdiscs, that sound better than their DVD counterparts. Which reminds me...
Is there ever going to be a DVD release of Blade Runner with the original Harrison Ford voice over? I must be the only person in this arm of the Galaxy that actually liked it better with his voice over.
