Is the Emotiva XPA 7 too powerful in 2 channel for my speakers?

I have a space in my home theater cabinet to fill
Listen, Adam. Here's the simple answer: An XPA-7 will be great to fill your cabinet with a home theater component. It will work fine with what you have.

Don't misunderstand all the replies. We're just saying that you'll actually HEAR more improvement with a sub than an amp. BUT, at some point, an amp is likely in your future just because every really cool home theater needs an amp. Right? ;)

So if you want to fill your cabinet, get the amp and put everything back together. When you get more money, spend it on subs. If you really want to minimize disturbance to your cabinet, go ahead and get a 2nd sub cable and plug it into SW2 on your AVR before you put the cabinet back. (Get the right length cable.) Then when you add a 2nd sub, you'll already have the cable plugged in.

Most of us have scratched that itch. Sometimes until it bled. We have the scars, (full spaces in our cabinet), to prove it.
I pick the scabs and through them out, that's how I've ended up swapping out more gear than last 10 years than most of you will in a lifetime.

I scratched my itch and bought the amp. I couldn't get over it and I look forward to installing it and reporting back.

I appreciate all the feedback and am convinced that my next move is to get a new sub. I took a look at your recommendations and plan to go with one of those.

Good call on the pre-wiring Herbu!!! I've been thinking about what I may need to plan for in the near future from a wiring standpoint.

So...sub and small form factor HTPC and I should be good for while.

Anyone have a recommendation for a reasonably priced HTPC?

The advice here has been great.

For the HTPC, I got a popcorn hour vten not long ago which is pretty nice, it's also relatively cheap, does 4K video and integrates with nas servers, however, in the end, I ended up installing openelec on a Mac mini I had laying around and I'm pretty happy with that. I still have the VTEN but I'm no longer using it. The mini does not handle 4K but then again nothing in my setup does. ;)

Alex.
