Is my SonicImpact T-Amp defective?

I researched small amps and decided on the much-praised SonicImpact T-Amp. I wanted it for the office, where i have a MacBook Pro and a pair of Sennheiser 280 Pros. I just thought I could get some more oomph for deep coding sessions.

I received the amp about a half hour ago. When I set it up, the first thing that i noticed was odd was that the On/Off switch was always in the glowing blue state that i would assume indicates on. Upon listening, and trying out that switch, i noticed no difference in playback. In the 'off' position, everything sounded the same as when On. When i pushed the button all the way in and held it, the light went off and the sounds was practically existent. To me, that seems like off.

Now lastly, bass out of this thing is very minimal, with rattley, plasticy overtones. Plugging the headphones directly into the Pro delivers reasonable bass and no distortion.

Should I consider this one DOA? Anyone else have positive experiences to share about this amp?

Thanks.

Sure sounds funky to me.

Call where you bought it and ask if this is normal, but I kinda doubt it. While you're at it, see how you go about sending it back for an exchange.

If you end up having to send it back to Sonic for service, make sure you send with a tracking option. I had the cheaper amp and sent it back for service, apprently it was lost in the delivery and Sonic is of no help (niether is the US Postal service). Shame on me; but advice none the less.

I got in touch with the partner Amazon uses to sell the amps. I'm getting free return shipping and an exchange :). Thanks for the help.
