Is LCoS dead?

Since Intel announced it was removing itself from the LCoS business a couple weeks ago, does this spell doom for DLP competition? As I understand it, LCoS is Intel's patent... will someone else pick it up? Are companies still going to be able to produce TV based on the technology?

It's not dead and Intel does not own the patent on the technology, but they may have had patents on specific processes to make their chip. There are already several TV's on the market using some form of this technology including Sony and JVC.

And what's that? A keychain? Normally I'd go through the effort of looking up all this on my own... I'm just ticked off about my HDTV situation and want nothing to do with it right now... I'm aware that there are few LCoS TVs out there, but I'm glad that they'll continue.
