That depends on the price. It has a far more robust amplifier section than the RX-V2400.

What can it do that your Yamaha cannot do that you need it to do? If nothing, then absolutely it is not worth it to get it. Many times, people spend their money upgrading to something that is better on paper, but makes no practical difference in their particular system.

As for amplification, if you need more robust amplification, you should be looking at power amps, which you will also be able to use with your next receiver when you upgrade to get some of the features available on newer models. But if you do not need better amplification for your particular speakers, then do not waste your money on it.

It is a beast and has a ton of nice features, but it is also somewhat outdated at this point. The negative effect of a lot of features is a lot of setup time I set one up for a customer and it took a while.

The yamaha 2400 doesn't have HDMI so you probably are due for an upgrade. If your doing 2 channel operation I'd stay pat though. That receiver delivers nearly 200 watts per channel in stereo mode according to hometheatermag.

What speakers do you use? IF the Yamaha isn't running out of steam (headroom) keep it and save your money for better speakers.
