Im new to home theater and im putting together my system and need some help with speakers. I have the new yamaha rx-v663 and i have a chance to get the KEF 1001 series 7.1. For 700$ new. I have been going to different places to listen to speakers and i have not listen to the KEF. I have heard plenty of good things about them but i have never listen to the speakers. So i should i go on everyones word or get something ive listen to at a store?

Go and listen for yourself. Klipsch are a love it or hate it kind of thing, and you don't want to find out the hard way that you hate them.

He's not asking about Klipsch, he's aksing about KEF.

Ooops.... My recommendation stands. Buying unheard is never the best idea. I like some of the KEF line, but found certain models that were not to my liking.

$700 sounds incredibly cheap for seven speakers and a sub. If they sound good to you, I would say it is a great deal.

yes it is very cheap, but im having a hard time finding this series to listen to before i buy. Its from a friend in another state and he says they sounds great, but i would like to listen to them first somewhere. Given the reputation and the price i almost wanna buy without listening to them first.

If you buy them and don't like them, there is a good chance of reselling them on ebay for as much as you paid.

If you buy anything online that you are not sure of, just make sure the company you're purchasing from has a good return policy. Many ID manufacturers offer a 30 day in-home trial period so you can see whether you like them or not. Some of them even pay for the shipping both ways in that event.

Post your thoughts on the V663 - I may be purchasing one before long. ;)

He was talking about buying them from a friend, not a company.

Right. Missed that, thanks Joe - well, see if the friend will let you take a listen to them before you commit to a purchase then, it would probably be even easier than dealing with a company.
