Its a total waste of money to buy a high end system for heavy metal rock music. It is conceived to be played back on awful sounds systems. Trash systems for trash music is the way to go.
Wow, that is really helpful. Who says that audiophiles are a pompous bunch? Your post put that stereotype to bed right there.

Some people just like ringing, reverberation, or an echo like effect when listening to music.

Yikes! I never thought of heavy metal as trash. But then again spending $80k on a system that plays only one genre, trash or not, doesn't make much sense. I guess one man's trash is another man's gold. ;)

So in other words the jist of this response is a) no one really believes anyone who listens to metal has enough money to drop 100k LMAO b) there's no point in researching what metal would sound best on because even though you haven't tested it, it must be crap (Volbeat being one of my fav bands FYI thanks for mentioning that sounding great whoever did)

At any rate, that's all a bunch of hogwash. So far I have for sure decided on JL Gothams (which I have bought and paid for now) and 99% sure I'm going to go with Revel Salon 2's for the fronts. I currently listen to everything on various systems, none of which are audiophile, but none of which are total crap either. I really need to decide on amps next.

Also, I'm really not against buying 2-3 completely different audiophile systems as I have multiple spaces I'd like to have systems in, but, I'd like to figure out what is going to be best rather than randomly grabbing stuff.

It sounds like you have things rolling. I look forward to seeing some pics when you have it all set up. BTW. Going to see Volbeat at the Fillmore, Denver April 5th. The wife and I are really looking forward to that one. We were going to see Black Label Society the following month but scheduling conflicts put that to bed.

Revel Salon 2's are awesome speakers, but they are not what you're looking for. Maybe something like these
Heritage Floor Standing Home Speakers | High Quality Audio by Klipsch® could take care of your craving.

Huh, gotta figure out how to navigate my way around this place. Link didn't work worth a darn. Well if you want the e-mail address, I can send it to you in a private message. I figured out how to do that at least. LOL
