Is it bad to have a big sub too close to the AV receiver?

I had to move myt onkyo sr 503 reciever to the lower shelf under my 32 inch widescreen samsung CRT, as it was causing interference.

I know a videogapher that hitched a ride with bride and groom in the limo. Put his camera in the trunk next to a sub and after 30minutes of pounding (music) goes to retrieve his camera and it won't turn on.

Obviously video cameras are much more delicate. I used to have a cell phone that when it rang right next to my camera it would distort the video and the camera would resonate (you could feel it by touching it) very weird, needless to say I didn't put my phone next to the cam anymore.

I have got a pretty big subwoofer with two 12" speakers sitting right next to my TV/equipment stand and I have not had any problems with magnetic fields or vibration. Just my 2 cents worth.
