I watched it last night at -15db. Since Iron Man is one of my favorites, I went in with high expectations. Overall I was a little let down.

I felt as though it was a little too over the top; more action and less intimacy than I prefer. You didn’t get a chance to know or understand the new characters. Heck, I don’t even understand how to make a new element even though it seemed pretty easy. I also dislike when the actor changes from one movie to the next and they play like it’s the same guy. I mean let’s bring back Cuba Gooding Jr. to play James Rhodes (I know, I know…it is Terrence Howard but I think Cuba and Terrence is the same person) or just change the character all together.

The sound seemed mix too hot. Almost everything was loud. I prefer big dynamic swings- quite dialog and then BAM…someone blows up and it scares the pants off of you (think- lightening scene on Ratatouille). The bass was pretty good but most of it was mid-bass, it did hit pretty hard but nothing was stressing my subs. All in all, the sound was crisp and clear just mixed too loud for my taste.

The PQ seemed good but I can’t get into this as I need a new bulb.

I did like the movie and I will watch this again with my EQ off and really let the subs eat and see how I feel after that.

I'm with you dude. I just watched a few of the good scenes, (race track, fight in the house, fight with drones at the end), and I wasn't blown away. The sound was good, but I think the bass was overdone. I like room-shaking bass as much as the next guy, but I don't like it when the sound designers put rumble in there just to do it. I like my movies loud, but I also like them to sound realistic.

Avatar is still the go-to demo disc for me.

The bass was a bit hot on the first one. IMO, I think current mixes are shooting for the 25Hz range, since that is what the average consumer's system is capable of. Didn't get a chance to watch this on yet and will be watching Prince of Persia tonight...so will be Friday most likely.

Don't get your hopes up for POP, that movie's horrible.

Like I said, I like bass too, but when simple things like shutting a car door cause a rumble, it's a bit too much.

That's kind of what the reviews said, which is why I Neflixed it :) I actually didn't realize it was in my queue when I returned my last movie until I got the shipping email... I don't know, but I can't imagine it is worse than Clash of the Titans

Terrence Howard lost the role because of money issues or something (he wanted too much I guess). You can't have Iron Man without Rhodey, so they just had to change the actor.

There was also mention of the guy originally wanting Cheadle to play Rhodey for the first one but he was working on something else.

No kidding eh? That movie had so much POTENTIAL...but it was almost like they just threw it together last minute or something...is POP out on BD yet?

Crap, I have Prince of Persia for tonight.

I loved the sound on Clash of the Titans, the dynamic swings were what I like.

Watched it last night and I enjoyed it. As some have said, it isn't quite as good as the first one, but I liked it. Though there wasn't a lot of story to it, it was still fun and felt it fit right in with the first. Yes, the bass was quite hot in a few scenes.

Watched POP the other day too and I actually liked it. Not great, but not bad.

The thing is, tony stark is such an awesome character that you can get away with a pretty lame story. That's what Ironman does well that most action movies can't pull off.

I picked up the 3-disc version Friday at Wally World.

It's definitely something the LFE bass freaks will love. It actually seemed a little excessive at times.
(I can't believe I said that)

OK, we watched Iron Man 2. It was fun. It's a comic-book movie with an action packed comic-book plot puncuated with great SFX and lotsa boom-boom rumble (but well defined) sound. Trying to find any great intellectual meaning behind it is like looking for spititual enlightenment from Bazooka Joe.

IOW, it's just what we were looking for. :D

I'm sure it'll be even more fun when we make the jump to Blu-ray.

The only thing I didn't like about this was that they tried to replace Roadie with Cheadle.....which was really

You figure it out.

Agree. Terrance Howard had a "lighter" style that played well with Downey's smart-*** attitude. Cheadle's Rhodie seems a bit too straight-laced to be Tony Stark's close friend.

Agreed. He was the only actor who I felt was out of place.
