Nice choice. I'm holding out for the rumored Amazon Hollywood tablet although I worry that it might be a bit too big. Supposedly it's due out in September or October.

I'm still loving my NC, but the Galaxy Tab is definitely a sexy piece of tech. Just a lot more computer than I need. For what I do, reading books, playing games and occasionally surfing the web for a few minutes, the NC works great. Have you had issues with the power button? It sure seems like a pain in the *** to press.

Has anyone messed with that awesome looking Toshiba tablet I've seen commercials for.

Since no one chimed in for the xoom camp, I've been running one for a few months now.

The model I have is the 32 gig. 3G. The tablet was already supposed to be upgraded to 4G, that didn't happen yet.

As far as honeycomb 3.0 goes I'd have to say meh. There was a recent update to the xoom that helped a lot. Sites with a ton of Java script ads (Audiholics) wold cause the browser to force close prior to it, so they're making progress.

It's been a rocky start but Nvidia is working on quad-core chips for android devices that will change the game.

Now if they get the battery life past needing charged daily..........

Oddly enough I didn't. Now that you made me think about it, I'm not sure why not. The problems that the android browser had nearly convinced me to sell the xoom.

My overall impression is "fair" as far as the Google tablets go. I was really excited to get one and I may have over sold my own expectations. I don't have buyers remorse, but a nook colour would do everything I use this one for a fraction of the price. Hmmm... maybe there is some regret there. I do use it every day however.

The one thing that set this one out from the crowd is the Nvidia Tegra chipset. There are a couple of games designed for it that are pretty good. But that's it. Hard to justify the price of this thing when there's a couple of games that set it apart.

Nvidia really dropped the ball on Tegra 2. Lots and lots of hype with a very small buggy delivery. IMO the Xoom was pushed out too fast. There is a reason Google STILL hasn't released the source code for Android 3.0, its not ready for prime time.

One of main reasons Nvidia's Tegra2 is not living up to it's hype is due to typical nVidia way of reasoning - the internal design of tegra1 and 2 chips are missing SIMD engine, instead relying on it's powerful GPU. The idea is that his power hungry module could be omitted, BUT : This requires coders to write specifically nVidia optimized apps, but most apps on market aren't and this results in only slightly above average performance from tegra cpu's.

I'm kind of curious who is correct... will the Tegra-3 launch in "about a year" (roughly April 2012), or will it debut in the Amazon "Hollywood" in time for the Christmas buying season (Sept/Oct 2011), or will Amazon wait for a mid-year release which will likely hurt sales and leave them behind the curve next Christmas. Amazon has invested a lot of money in an app store and cloud service and nobody in their right mind disappoints the 800lb gorilla. I suspect that engineers are working longs hours and long weeks and maybe even sleeping in their cubicles the way they used to at Broadcom. ;)

Xoom 4G lte update

Last night I received an email from Verizon stating that the upgrade to 4g lte as well as the activation of the SD slot will be in September.

This was supposed to be done in April. Not that it matters much, there's not an abundance of areas with 4G service.
