Internet Explorer 8, any thoughts?

Seriously, I have no life.
Thanks for all the replies, really appreciate it!

Let me ask it this way: Can I have both, the Firefox icon and IE on my desktop, and use them at different times?
Rich, I have used Firefox since inception. I have IE loaded but practically never use it.

I think if you use Firefox and the Adblock plus plug in you won't look back.

Thanks Mark,
I've finally taken the plunge, and have used Firefox for the past few weeks.
I also started using Thunderbird for my email.

Thanks to all for your advice! Any further tips are greatly appreciated.

You guys got me interested in trying a new browser...so I installed Chrome. It has an interesting look and feel and is WAY faster than IE.

But being mostly computer illiterate, I have a question or two. Since I made Google Chrome my default browser, does my anti-virus/anti-spam/anti-phishing/anti-everything Norton 360 apply itself to both browsers...just the IE still, or just Chrome? (Sorry...I told you I'm old and slow. :()

Also, there doesn't seem to be a handy "Add to Favorites" process as in IE. It seems quite burdensome, in fact. Am I missing a handy one-click solution somewhere there?

Any help from you Chrome users would be appreciated. Thanks.

I found this quick explanation on how to add a Bookmark (same thing as a Favorite - it's just semantics) by using...wait for it...Google. :D

In the address bar line, you should see a small star on the left hand side. When you are on the website you wish to bookmark, click that star. The site is automatically added to the bookmarks bar below the address bar.

Chrome probably doesn't have a plug in. Firefox does. That being said even without anti-virus firefox is still safer than IE IME.

IE is just trouble waiting to happen. Chrome is probably safer.

phising just requires you to be smart.

I just use webmail where I can. This is the safest usually. Yahoo has a very nice mail system now.

I just ran an update and gave IE8 a try. Man am I sorry I did that. I have yet to be on it without it crashing at least once. None of my loggins stay for more then a day. And look at this:

Very, very, very disappointed. I am going to uninstall IE8 and reinstall IE7, then use Firefox.

Google Chrome on Windows is pretty much the safest browser, followed by Firefox on Windows. IE8 is modestly safe, but not really worth the trouble to use when Firefox is an option.

Both Safari and Firefox are very vulnerable on Mac OSX, though are rarely targeted due to low market share.

Funny someone had brought up Maxathon, I haven't heard that for a long time...

I started out with that, and migrated over to Firefox.... I haven't used anything else since, tried a couple of browsers like opera, and chrome but could never found the GUI's as user friendly as Firefox, so I just stick with it...

I absolutely abhor IE and find it repugnant !!!!

Firefox has so many add-ons that make it incredibly easy to adapt to, and I can't say with AdBlock + and NOD32 antivirus that I have ever had any issues with my computers.... oh unless my kid gets his hands on it... :(

You might want a new search provider, too :p

Yahoo has gotten pretty lame since it started focusing on the Web Ad industry, rather than focusing on it's primary starting point (web search). Google Search all the way! I already have the Google App for my iPhone.

Speaking of iPhone Apps... Holy Smokes there is a lot!!!
