Internal Amplifier Problem, Help!

After almost two years of pre/pro duties, I put my Pioneer 1014 back as my primary processor amplifer. I have a problem now. The volume through my speakers is very low, almost nothing when I first turn the receiver on. After playing with the volume knob a bit and maybe switching sound fields, I can get it to normal level and it will say there, until I have to turn it on again. Does this mean the amps in the Pioneer have gone bad while they sat idol for almost two years? Please help, thanks.

Your volume pot may just be really dirty. I am guessing of course. I would try cleaning the volume pot and spraying out the thing with some air to see if that helps any.

Say I turn the receiver on and it is in "7 channel stereo" mode. I will have basically no volume out of my center and surround left speaker until I turn the volume knob up. Then it seems fine. The wierd thing is it doesn't do it all the time, just most of the time. I have heard a slight crackle sound in the speakers when turning the volume up when it is like that.
The really funny thing is I swear I didn't not notice this when the amplifier was hooked up.

I thought you just purchased a SC-05?

I did, but I hate when I can't figure out how or why this is happening. Maybe it has been a problem for awhile and I just know noticed. It is acting almost like when you have the volume on so low, that its not quite loud enough for the subwoofer to signal on when its set to "auto". I guess thats the best way to describe it.
