@gene , I enjoyed that video but was disappointed that you did not clarify John Siau's response to you question at 6:39 when you asked in a pointed and timely manner making the point that the issue was that when recording/mastering at or exceed 0 dBFS.

His answer to your question started with "No", followed by using the term myth... That could be misleading! I am sure he did not intentionally saying it that way to mislead those who watch the video, but I am quite sure many would indeed be misled, evidence in some posts on ASR when someone posted a link to it.

The fact is, you are 100% right that if recording is done to 0 dBFS, there would/or at least could result in inter-sample peaks related distortions. He is not technically wrong calling it a common myth if people think that recording at 0 dBFS was the sole issue, but I would think most would, if watch that video carefully, understand your point that if, for instance, the recording industry has a standard and all follow the practice of allowing for adequate headroom, such as up to 3 dB below 0 dBFS, then the inter-sample peak distortion issue would have been avoided or much reduced, without devices such as dacs, processors, media players, hardware or software such as JRiver, Roon doing something to mitigate the potential issue. So practically speaking, while as John explained, there's nothing wrong with 0 dBFS for recording, but it is not a myth that if recording with say 3 dB headroom reserved, the inter-sample peaks would not be "clipped", and he probably wouldn't have to do that video with you.:D

So, I hope if and when you move that very interesting and educational video to this site, you would do something to clarify that part of Q&A at 6:39.

Other than that, thanks to you and John Siau for the education.
