I have a dumb question, I just bought a used Sansui integrated power amp from a buddy, can you hook this up to a receiver that already has an amp? or do you have to just use a tuner? and if you can hook it to the receiver, where do you hook it to? The old receiver I want to use with the amp doesnt have a lot of jacks, but does have the rec out an play back, maybe there? or am I looking at blowing up my new amp?

Integrated power amp....

An "integrated power amp" means that the AM/FM receiver and amplifier are in the same physical unit. It's hard to find just a regular "receiver" these days, as 99% of what is sold in the consumer market is, in fact, an integrated amplifier and receiver in one unit.

Your Sansui can be used with another receiver, or another amplifier, or another integrated receiver amplifier! If you use the "Rec Out" jacks on your Sansui to attached another amplifier, then you can add additional speakers in another room, etc. The connection possibilities are quite varied. You will, of course, have to use the volume control on both units to control the speaker volume attached to each independant unit.

It's an unusual term thy are using but it seems that it means that thereis a preamp and a power amp on a single chassis. Most manufactuters would refer to this as simply an "integrated amp" and leave it at that.

Now, if they had added a tuner to that, it would be called a "receiver".

The above suggestion about the tape out is a good one but remember to keep somewhat of a load on the receiver's outputs.

Second response makes sense. The first was mumbo jumbo to me.
An integrated amplifier is and always has been the pre amp and power amp together in one unit, sans tuner. Add the tuner and you get a receiver.
I've owned old an Sansui integrated amp which was solid and nicely configured with pre-out and main in jumpers. If yours is set up like that, you have a lot of flexibility as to how you use it.
Yes, the tape out from the reciever should feed your FM signal to the integrated amp just as a tuner would, connect it from tape out to tuner input, tape or any other input except the phono on the integrated amp.
