Integra DTR 9.9 and new Blu-ray audio formats

Has any one had any problems getting their 9.9 to recognize any of the new BD surround formats? (e.g. Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD MA...etc.) I ask because I came across a Onkyo 906 thread (or was it the 905? Shrug) where they were having problems getting their Onkyo to display Dolby TrueHD on the receiver. Which I take to mean it's not seeing the marker. Was considering the 906...now I'm having second thoughts.

I had the same issue with my SR-605 until I realized I didn’t have my settings right. You want to make sure the DVD player is sending the signal in digital form to the receiver via the HDMI cable, and set the receiver to decode the incoming signal.

Lot of people go through a lot of trouble to get that little DTS HD MA light to go on.

I don't have any of my new HT gear yet. Researching at the moment.

I did hear it might have something to do with the brand of BD player used. That Panasonics should be fine.

I haven't heard this problem with Pioneer Elite owners nor Denon. Just Onkyo. Not Integra either actually.

I had my DTC-9.8 processor replaced under warranty for this exact issue. Discussed the issue here starting at post 38. http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47928&highlight=integra&page=4

After reading that whole thread over, it seems that I didn't actually describe the HD audio problem's symptoms. I think I did in the huge AVS thread but good luck finding a specific post in that thread. It would be like finding a needle in a stack of needles.

Anyway, when sending a signal as PCM, the receiver would function properly regardless of which audio format was selected. When I set the players to bitstream, normal DD and DTS would function properly but if I switched the disc menu to output an HD format, I received only silence. The processor simply would not recognize the HD format as a bitstream signal and no sound of any kind could be heard. If I left all settings alone and switched the disc menu back to a standard format, it would work properly. I have my replacement unit now but I have never heard what the cause of this problem might be. The new unit played the HD audio tracks in bitstream perfectly the first time I tried and displayed the HD titles on the display as it should.

So if you could do it all over, would you buy this pre/pro?

Oddly enough, yes I would buy it again. I've never been what you would call a "lucky" guy. If there was one bad unit in a million built, I'm the guy that's gonna get it. I think Integra could have stepped up in the CS department, but now that it's all over and everything's working again, I'm over it (sort of).

It's still a great unit for the money and I've found it's learning remote with macros to be a huge benefit since my wife hogs the harmony. The only thing I really miss is the Personal Memory Plus feature that I had on the Denon, where it remembers all your on the fly channel settings. Other than that, I'm quite happy with the unit I have now.
