I've got an Infocus X1 which I just hooked up after four years of not using it. I can't get it to select a HDMI signal from my Dish Network Box source. I went online and upgraded the firmware to 4.3 and I bought a 25 ft HDMI cable and an HDMI to VGA adapter cable...still nothing! I don't get it. The last time I used it with Dish Network was before I upgraded to HD...and it used to select the source signal just fine...thought maybe I needed some HDMI cables or something, but Nooo! It still selects the DVD and VHS signals. I'm stumped! Anybody know what I'm missing here? Do I need a converter or switch box or something to convert the HDMI signal to a VGA format or ???? My X1 manual says it should work with 1080i and 720P if the connection is a VGA, however, the Dish Box does not have a VGA connection on it so, I am using the HDMI out with a cable connected to a VGA adapter to the projector...with no luck! (Photo of the connection to the projector below) Thanks a bunch for any help!

Not sure how I missed this...

HDMI is a 100% digital source. You can't use a HDMI to VGA cable. Those cables are very specifically designed to work with non-industry standard HDMI inputs on a VERY select few (ie: NONE) products.

It's a scam basically.

There is no cable which can convert HDMI to VGA and you wasted your money.

Instead, you need to use component video outputs from your source to your projector to get a HD image. The X1, I believe, supports component video HD inputs just fine and that's a solid HD image you will get on a fairly old projector.

As for the BenQ W6000... Can't answer, but no projector should run into issues when it has a native HDMI input. BenQ has burned me pretty bad in the past and I try to avoid their product.
