I didnt think they sounded flat, but the low end was definitely lacking, and was putting out the "shwoofing" sound that you always hear on bad subs. But the placement of the towers was horrible, and I am sure people have been going in and blaring the speakers before they were "worked in". I think I am leaning towards the Infinity 362's right now.
The Polks are on sale again this weekend. I see the R50's are also on sale. I resisted the urge in my deals thread to call them bookshelves pretending to be floorstanders. That's what they look like. However, I haven't heard them. As a result, I'm not sure. I'm going to relisten to those other Polks (the RTi8, etc.). I called them flat, but I might be confusing them with my buddy's JBL Stage Venues that I listened to around the same time. Those puppies had no high end or low end--was just nothing.
