Infinity Primus 360 Question

Justed picked up a pair of Primus 360's for my mains. One thing I noticed is there is no port tube attached to the port. I shook the cabinets as best I could and didn't notice anything loose inside. Did they forget them, or is it tuned to just have the ultra short (about 1") port extension that is on it?

No review yet, as I am still setting them up/tuning/breaking them in. So far I am more than happy though.

That is how the ports on all Primus speakers are designed.

I thought so...it didn't sound like there was a problem...but you never know.

Any idea how they can get away with tuning like that? I've built a few subs, but never had a port tube that short. Maybe I will have to play with Win ISD a bit this afternoon.

Congrats on your purchase. As an Infinity Primus owner I can NOT recommend them enough. Did you get the matching center? What are you using for your rears? I have the matching center C25 and the 150's for rear duties. What receiver are you using? Anyways, good to see another Infinity Primus owner here. Be sure to let us know what you thoughts are after breaking them in. Mine sounded great right out of the box and still do.

They aren't tuned low, that is why it is so short. -3dB at 38Hz would indicate a tuning somewhere around there.

speakerman39 - I am using the Yamaha RX-V659 to power the Infinities (mains) as well as 7 each of the Insignia NS-B2111 that have had their cabinets re-inforced as my center, side surrounds, rear surrounds, and presence channels - all channels are high passed at 80 Hz, with the lows going to a Soundstream monoblock that feeds an old Cerwin Vega 124 in a homemade 4 ft^3 ported downfiring enclosure.

I have only listened to them for a couple hours last night. Couldn't go over -20db as the little one was trying to get some sleep. They are not aimed right, and nothing is really set up right yet, but they do sound good. Enjoyed a little Norah Jones (sp?) vocals that sounded pretty good. Right now they seem a little lacking in depth of stage, but I'm sure some time spent with toe and positioning will fix that right up.

Wow-Soundstream!!!! Now that reminds me of my car audio days.........LOL!!!! You have a very nice receiver. I have owned a couple of Yammie receivers in the past. and both were decent. Currently, I am using a Pioneer 1015 and just love it. Give the 360's some time and experiment w/placement and they will sound better and better. I have mine toed in a bit. Keep us informed.
