I was looking at Infinity's web page and noticed that they were going to bring back the Prelude series. The one their showing is the Prelude 40. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about these new speakers?

Electrostatic midrange drivers with a dome tweeter (just from the picture). If Infinity can build inexpensive speakers that sound great, the Primus series, then these floor standers should sound at least that good.

I had a pair of Primus 150 series speakers that came free with a PS 12 subwoofer I bought from JR Music World. They sounded really good, but I gave them away.

I'm not seeing this new "prelude" speakers on Infinty's US site, at least briskly looking over it.

I would say from Infinity's history and the picture shown that those don't appear to be electrostats, chances are they are those rectangular dynamic drivers similar to what they used for the Cascades.

Yep, they look like the Cascade drivers to me as well. If you go to the front page of their site, look at the bottom left and you'll see an ad that says "meet the Prelude 40". Here's a link to the site and the page on them. You can also download the manual.

New appearance doesn't do much for me. I remain a twentieth century man. Got Kappa's? All I need.:D

Thanks for the links, I couldn't find it under products either.

My pleasure. I think they're very sexy looking. I loved the Kappas as well. They do resemble the Kappa a little, but much thiner. Didn't the Kappa's have side mounted woofers as well? I'm hoping they do the old Preludes justice and they make an entire series. Nice to see them going more toward the top again, although the speakers they have out now are very good.

Yes the woofers are side mounted in my Kappa 400. Also the 600 models.
