Infinity IL60's, good for what I want them for?

Ok, hopefully an easy question. I have someone in my area selling infinity IL60's?

I was wondering a couple of things?

1) Are these speakers good for music which would include: 30% Classic Rock(Skynard, Kiss, Cream, Doors, Floyd, CCR, etc), 30% Alternative (Pearl Jam, Linkin Park, Sum 41, etc), 15% R&B/Rap (Eminem, Jay Z, Ludacris, Macy Gray, Five Stairsteps, etc), 15% Country (Charlie Daniels, Alabama, Willie Nelson, etc), 10% Classical/Opera/ (Andrea Bocelli, Mozart, Musical scores of soundtracks, etc).

2) Would these speakers be used best as my stereo speakers just for stereo listening? Or should I build a surround system with this (meaning are these too good to not make into surround package)??

3) Is $650 a good price for the pair... 6 years old... Good condition not mint.

Let me know.

Thanks in advance

Forgot to ask this question!?

I have a Denon 3808ci and a Onkyo 805.... are either of these receivers in the range that these IL60's should be played on??? Would they sound good with one of these recievers?? If so, which one?

Thank you again!

Either will go well with the Interlude 60 (8 ohms 89 sens.). These probably sold for $1500 a pair new perhaps 1,000 in the end of the manufacturing cycle. Like most of Infinity;s quality towers they are very heavy with real maple enclosures. Getting a matching center may be difficult so a good 2 channel setup would be optimum. They are probably overkill for movies anyway. The bass will be felt in the chest.

So no to home theatre?

The reason I ask if this would be too powerful for home theatre I was thinking of making them my 2 channel set up with my martin logan subwoofer (Dynamo) or do I even need external sub with these speakers?

Also I was thinking of adding them to my Sapphire Surround set as my front speakers and getting one of the Prelude centers from Ebay. Then putting my Sapphire ST3 towers as my back and my Sapphire Dipoles as my Rear Surround. I figure they would sound ok together since Christie designed the sapphire audio speakers and he was the lead designer at Infinity at the time of IL60 inception. Would this set up not work or would it not sound consistent?

If this would sound corny (with sapphire's) I can but either some IL40's or IL30's as my rear. or buy both the IL40 for surround and IL30 for Surround back.

Let me know what you think or would this be total overkill the room is about 16' by 15' also with Dynamo Subwoofer from Martin Logan.

Thank you!

I will only address the first question and leave the HT aspects to the HT gurus.

The sub will not be required. I did buy a sub on e-bay to supplement my kappa's but it is totally unnecessary. About the only effect is to make the bass louder but at the detriment of tightness. I generally turn it off except when watching TV in the den.
