The title says it all. It would be interesting to hear everybody's opinion of Infinity speakers.

My systems includes:
Infinity Kappa 6.1 Series 2 Main Towers
Infinity Interlude 25C Center Channel
Infinity Interlude 10 Bookshelf Surrounds
Infinity PS12 Subwoofer
Harman/Kardon AVR310 Receiver

I bought 4 Infinity Ref 2000.4 speakers and a CC-1 center in 1997.

In small to average size rooms I was always impressed by these speakers. My first setup was ideal, a narrow but long room and they just got worse from there.

The only thing I didnt like was bass output, but I had a sub so it did not matter much.

I used them until 2005 when I thought the movers had lost my poor little CC-1 and I bought a Primus 250 to go with them.

I have since switced to AV123 rockets but still have the infinitys in my garage.

The car audio store I worked at in mid-nineties sold Infinity products as well. I built a small bandpass for a Kappa 10" and tested it in a guys car that had 6 kicker 15"s.

His response was "Tell me why I have all this s... back here?"

So that being said...I like them, never really had a high end infinity product though and they gave me almost 10 years of service for a closeout price of $149 each...so...no gripes.

New speaks are leaps and bounds better but also leaps and bounds pricier too.

I was impressed with the Primus, good sound, but they look cheap and ugly to me.

Oh and a friend had a kappa system in his car...I liked them better than my JL seperates...very clear, one of those situations where you hear new things in songs.

I had an Infinity IL setup for my main HT setup that gave me a few good years of service. I used a pair of IL50s for mains, an IL36c center, OWS-1s for surrounds, an IL25c in a temporary 6.1 configuration then a pair of IL10s for rear surrounds in 7.1.

The IL50s were very good for HT, slightly less impressive for critical music listening, but a heck of a bargain w/the dual 10" 250w subs that when calibrated correctly with RABOS, sounded very good. Not terribly deep at close to 30Hz for their size, but again, when smoothed out properly, they gave good performance. The IL36C was one of the best centers I'd heard and is still one of the more impressive centers I've heard in a setup less than a couple grand.

The OWS's were temporary, but worked also worked well for their money. The IL25c did a good job for its size, decent dialog but was a little thin when running with the IL50s as a main center channel. The IL10s were great for rear surround and are still excellent bookshelfs (if you can call a 15 5/8"H x 8 1/2"W x 11 1/2"D bookshelf-size... ) that when coupled with a capable sub would make for great mains on a budget.

I've since done some upgrading, but the Infinitys will always hold a place in my heart as this was my first real "big boy" setup... -TD

My first speakers by Infinity was Reference 2000.6 small towers purchased over fifteen years ago. They are still going strong in my Son's house. The current speakers in the den (my music room) are Kappa-400. I purchased them after considering the B&W 700 series towers (very good speakers) and the Paradigm 80's. Absolutely terrific speakers for listening to jazz with a great deal of brass. However, the tweeters took what seemed like a year to beak-in. My guess, although made in Denmark, is my Kappa's are similar in quality to your interludes.

I also have an entry level setup in the family room composed of TSS-750. Now that I have upgraded to a Marantz receiver and Outlaw sub the speakers will be the final item to improve. The tss 750 speakers have a very poor sub but the satelites are acceptable for HT less so than for music. They are very small satellites and struggle to present a rich mid-range. Not a bad solution for a starter HT in a medium size room or smaller.

My first set of serious speakers were Infinity 2000AXTs in '76. Walsh tweeter, 12" woofer, would shake the house - and did frequently. Got a set of RS4s in '85 after the AXTs blew up, still have 'em in my secondary system, had them refoamed last year. They still sound good, but not as refined as my Monitor Audios...(I'm a lot more refined now, you see )
Like most mainstream companies, they've made some really great speakers as well as dime-store crap.
Of course, that's just my opinion...I could be wrong.

Infinity Primus 360 here. Great lower extension, a nice ballanced flat sound with amazingly natural vocals. Airy and uncolored and the drivers have an equally amazing sharp attack that together with the openness of the mids gives great realism to acoustic guitar and anything else plucked. Including electric guitar, which I play, and can now easily tell what gear the artist is using due to the incredible realism of these speakers. "My stratocaster into a deluxe reverb sounds EXACTLY like whats coming out of these speakers" for instance. Of course drums are very alive and realistic because of this trait too.

I also have the 150's and they have most of the traits of the 360's except less bass obviously (although very good for their size) and a slightly harsher, more pronounced high end. But they are an excellent compliment to the bigger primus towers.

At very high volume they can get a little too compressed and resonate too much but I've heard that adding damping inside helps these speakers alot so I'll probably try that when the warranty runs out.

All in all a fantastic audio and HT speaker line for the money... and then some.

Furthermore, I now own the all new and much larger PC350 center speaker and must say I am happy. For LFE though, just recently bought a SVS PB10-NSD to go along with my Acoustic Research 8" powered subs. Am still amazed at the SQ I am getting especially for what I payed for everything. Some day I hope to own the Revel Performas with a similiar configuration. Chances are it may be a good while though.

I havent got a center channel speaker yet and I'm obviously looking at the primus although I'm thinking of trying out the AV123 X series for $130. Then I may try the i-xs for rear surrounds. I was listening to a new SACD today with some great acoustic guitar work through my Yamaha 659 and the Infinity's.... The realism was phenomenal.

As for price, that's one reason I bought the Primus speaks, they were cheap ($350 pr) because they're giving them new cosmetics and a new PRICE.

Infinity......well.....AWESOME!!!

I have a pair of Interlude 10s in the bedroom (the first good pair of speakers I ever got). You could imagine my amazement moving from Jensen C-JR bookshelf speakers to these. I experience sound staging for the first time with these speakers, accidentally, before I even knew any spot about imaging. I selected these speakers from a Circuit City store. My options at the time were Polk (not sure what of Polk), Bose (thank God I wasn't biased towards them and immediately recognized they sounded like crap), MTX (Closely resembled the sound of the muffled Bose speakers), and of course Infinity. I saw the MTX in an add and really wanted them based on looks and size (I was about 15 at this time and thought big speakers and woofers were cool).

So we go to the store and listen to some speakers. I listen to Polk, wasn't impressed. I listened/endured Bose, do I need to say any more? I listened to the MTX and was frustrated with how bloated and flat the bass was (bass was fascinating at that time). The MTX also had some high frequency problems, I am not sure if they were damaged or if the tweeters were shut off because if I remember correctly they had some frequency adjustments. I was disappointed that the speakers I wanted sounded that bad. So I asked to listen to the Interlude 10s (still discouraged) and once they were on I felt better, because not only did they sound great, but they had open box. The bass was deeper than the MTX, more accurate, and the highs sounded fantastic.

So that is how I got my Infinity Interlude 10s, and since I have had them have blown the tweeters once because I made a critical error when making connections to a "new to me" amplifier. I replaced the tweeters and have pushed them to the back burner a few times. But recently reacquired a taste for them and have been using them a lot. I love the build and appearance of the interlude series. The thick front baffle and the woofer assembly is quite nice.

So you could say I love Infinity, even if the Interlude 10s are the only Infinity speakers I ever own. However, in the future I would like to get some Intermezzo 2.6 speakers.

As you mentioned the changes per se are mostly cosmetic, BUT if you take a closer look there are also some changes in the X-over design. Been doing a bit more tweaking today and now have my set-up sounding better than ever. The SVS PB10-NSD blends seemlessly w/my Primus speakers. Still amazed at how much a 10" powered sub can put out. Lets just say the PB10-NSD delivers superbly.

I've since tried to google them in attempt to remember what they were, but to no avail..... I failed to find them.

Yeah the Revels are nice. Be sure to take a close look at the Infinity Primus PC350 because it really sounds great w/the 360's. There is a bit more clarity with the PC350 when compared to the C25. Yeah unlike the 362, 162, 152 etc the 350 is a whole new design. I'd like to audition one of those. 2 woofers AND 2 mids? Pretty impressive, that's moving a lot of air for one small speaker!

I probably didn't need a sub since I mostly listen to classic rock, blues and modern/fusion jazz on CD & DVD-A but I went ahead and got a Velodyne VX-10 a few weeks ago and it adds a nice rumble and thump down low but the one thing I really noticed was how good the bass on the 360 towers can be. Nice tight deep very articulate bass down all the way to the rated 36hz and then some. Sometimes I just sit there switching from swfr to frnt on the bass out control over and over again just marveling at just how close they are to the sub. Not a bad trick.

For the LFE, I added dual Infinity Intermezzo 1.2s subwoofers. This is a fantastic system. It performs equally well for music as it does for movies. I normally listen to music with 2 channels only and the 600's provide a stunningly wonderful sound.

I'm a big fan of Infinity speakers. From what I've seen and heard, it's hard to beat their bang for the buck factor. One of the great things about Infinity is that when they discontinue a speaker line, they somtimes discount the prices dramatically. This is something that a lot of people don't seem to consider when they are deciding between speaker brands. If you time your purchases right you can get some tremendous bargains. That's a lot different than some manufacturers, who control their dealer prices even after a line has been discontinued. I'll use my Kappa 600's as an example. When I first looked into buying them, the lowest price I could find was $1679.00 a pair. And that was with an online dealer. They were even higher at B&M dealers. Around 8 months later after they were being closed out, Onecall had them on sale for $899.00 a pair for a short time. I haven't seen those kinds of discounts from many other brands. I put my whole system together at these kinds of prices, even the Intermezzo subs. I've never heard or seen a system that comes close to the sound quality, build quality, and sheer beauty of my system at anywhere near the price I paid.

Yeah I hear you on the 360's LF capabilities. However, I have my 360's set to "small" and X-overed at 100 hz which seems to blend better with my SVS PB10-NSD. It also sounds really good when X-overed at 80 Hz BUT seems a bit less articulate sounding. The only problem w/the 100 Hz X-over point is that the PB10 becomes a bit more localized. Oh well, either way I can live w/it but for now going to leave it at 100 Hz.

Thanks Mudshark. I know what you mean. I rarely see posts about the Kappa's on the audio forums that I visit. There is just not that many people that have them. These speakers were originally made for the European market and were really only sold in the US for a short time before being discontinued. Most people don't even know they exist. I feel very fortunate to have gotten mine and intend on keeping them forever. As one reviewer put it, these are "speakers for the ages".

Wow...it is great to see this many people who like Infinity on this board! I am a little surprised that there aren't a lot of people on this board with some of the older Infinities like my Kappa's,Renaissance,RS, etc...figured their might be more? I wish that Infinity still used the Emit Tweeter in their speakers...those tweeters were/are so detailed and clean sounding...that classic Infinity sound..I love it!

I have the Infinity Reference Series (RS-4, CC3, BU-80 ). Always loved the sound of the towers though a little weak in the bass dept., the mid range and highs sound really nice.
