I need to replace 1 of the 4 woofers in my set of Infinity speakers. Can anyone recommend an 8" woofer that will be a comparable if not slightly better speaker for replacement?

Thanks,

These are the overall speaker specs... not sure how that would translate for the woofer... all I can figure is the woofer is fs 45Hz ~ XXXX

Nominal Impedance: 8 ohms
Power Rating: 30 to 175 watts
Crossover Frequencies: 450Hz, 3000Hz
Frequency Response: 45Hz-35kHz +/-3dB
Sensitivity: 90dB 2.8V/1 meter

okay, I must be missing something here. I have 3 different threads on Audioholics with not even one response.

Does this board have a level of arrogance that if I don't ask questions detailed enough or haven't searched enough threads they go ignored?

I've been doing plenty of reading and learning but thought some of the more experienced community members might have some kind of guidance for me. My questions will probably be void soon anyway as I think I will be able to repair my speaker... thread on that in the DIY section but anyways. Just wondering before I jump ship to greener pastures why I can't seem to get anyone to engage in audio speak on a "audioholics" forum.

I would get with the manufacturer and get an original replacement. There are a lot of different specs on a driver besides freq resp.

Thanks for the response!

I went that route and was told they do not make replacements. They stopped making them in '96.

I think I will be able to fix the 4th I've refoamed the 3 others due to the age and they sound good. I just have a jacked up basket on the 4th that I am trying to reconstruct. Anyway enough of that dont' want this moved to DIY.

What if I replaced all 4 of the 8" woofers and left the tweeters and 4" mids.. wonder what that will do to the overall sound.

Come to think of it maybe this does belong in DIY

Already replied in another of your threads, just send it to OrangeCounty Speaker, I'm pretty sure they can repair it for you.
